Wiggles was a siamese dumbo.
Wiggles is one of 8 baby boys I took on from a member of the public who had been sold two rats by a pet shop which she thought were boys, and had popped in with her resident boy as friends.
They turned out to be female, and two litters were born. Originally, I said I could only take 4 of the babies, but when I arrived, all 8 were loaded into my carrier! In fact, I had no idea how many I had until I got into the car and counted them up.
The owner had told me there were originally 9 babies, but one had 'gone missing' during a free range, and was presumed to be roaming the house somewhere, but to the best of my knowledge, he was never found :(
So, as well as Wiggles, I took Trilby, Wisher, The Comedian, Pagliacci, Nikita, Captain Morgan and Captain Metropolis.
Wiggles, when he first arrived, was like a less confident version of Wisher.
You could tell he wanted to be affectionate, but he was just that little bit too timid.
As he got older, he remained a timid rat but was more outgoing than some of his brothers. To be fair, none of this litter had great temperament; they were all flighty, highly strung rats, which I suspect was genetic as the previous owner told me their dad wasn't a particularly 'nice' rat either!
This litter also didn't seem to have particularly impressive health; half of them died within a few weeks of one another, all in the same way: no specific signs of illness except poor coat condition and a slight 'slowing down', and all were simply 'found' dead after not appearing to be ill. It is possible there was a genetic problem going on within this litter, such as polycystic kidney disease.
Wiggles was found dead one morning after no apparent illness, less than a week after his brother, Nikita.
Why Wiggles? Wiggles was so similar looking to his brother Wisher, that I wanted a similar 'W' name from him.
